Bundesdatenschutzgesetz (BDSG)

Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG): A German law that regulates the protection of personal data at the federal level. The law ensures that personal information of individuals is protected and collected, processed or used only with the consent of the data subject or pursuant to a legal obligation. The BDSG provides various rights for data subjects, including the right to information about stored data, the right to correct incorrect data, and the right to delete or block data. Since the entry into force of the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in 2018, a new version of the BDSG has been in force, which aligns the BDSG with the GDPR.
